2018 has begun with an exciting acquisition for Essex-based Troy Homes.

Troy Homes Director, Adrian Bohr, explains: “We are delighted to have exchanged contracts to acquire the site of a former laundry in Bower Vale, Epping, which has been vacant for many years and was razed by fire around a decade ago. The buildings are in a very poor state – in fact, much is totally derelict and dangerous so one of our first tasks will be to make the site safer and more secure.”

Troy Homes competed with many developers, including the larger PLCs, to acquire the site and is proposing to build its largest scheme to date with around 50-60 new homes on the site (subject to planning permissions), all with parking. The plan includes a mix of open market and social housing and will include one and two-bedroom apartments and three-bedroom houses.

Mr Bohr continues: “We are planning to hold public consultation events in early spring for local residents to view the plans and talk to us about the project and we are aiming to submit our planning application later in the summer. We anticipate that, if all goes according to plan, we should begin clearing the site early in 2019 and the first completions will be in 2020.

“Being just a short walk from Epping underground and so close to the town centre, we expect these properties will be popular with young professionals looking for a top quality home with easy commuting to London and many will take advantage of the Government’s Help to Buy scheme.”

Troy Homes is an Essex-based company that specialises in beautifully designed new homes in a style that enhances the particular site, whether that is contemporary or traditional styles, with appropriate architectural references. The company focuses on niche developments and has a tradition of working with local materials and well-established local contractors and suppliers.

Mr Bohr concluded: “This former laundry has been an eyesore and danger for many years and we are looking forward to transforming it with our aesthetically designed, top quality, new homes. Please contact us if you are looking to dispose of land as the company is actively looking for sites, with or without planning permission, which will be suitable for residential development.”
